If you would like to know the vocab for other ’school’ words, just in time for back to school, ask away!

What, no “your favorite classroom experience”???!!! :lol:

How about:
1. 老师好。– Hello, teacher.
2. 上课 — start class
3. 下课 — end class

Also, there are very few black boards, many are green or white if erasable markers are used. How would you say “chalk board”?

I suppose a white board would be 白板?

zhouli says:

@蓝大卫,
haha, we also call the white board as 黑板。

In English, the word “exam” can mean a classroom test, but also it can be used to describe what happens when you visit a doctor to have your health checked. Does 考试 carry both connotations or only the classroom test?

@蓝大卫

Not for 考试. It refers to only tests taken in or out of classroom, to examine your proficiency of something. Most cases you will get a score for it, fail or pass. The health examination is called 检查.
