What brand of moon cakes are popular in the U.S?
In the Bay Area, Sheng Kee seem to be popular.
How about on the East Coast?

Here's a performance by one of my favorite singers (and my Northeastern 老乡）during CCTV's Gala for the Mid Autumn Festival. Great stage design, with awesome fireworks!

I actually had a piece of mooncake today as I downloaded the audio onto my MP3 player

I didn't eat the complete mooncake since I find it too much for 1 sitting.

@ 蓝大卫:

Moon phases are called 月相 in Chinese.

赏月 has a very romantic connotation as in people appreciating the beauty of the moon in a social setting.

In your son's case, although he's also looking at the moon, I'd use 观月， or 观察月亮，which means to observe the moon and is more appropriate for what he's doing.
