Learn Chinese with ChineseClass101.com! You are visiting a family friend that is native Chinese. He has asked you to come along to meet his grandmother in a nearby quaint Chinese village. You feel honored that he has asked you, so you accept. It doesn't take too long to get to the village, but you have noticed drastic change in scenery from the city to where you are now. Your friend warns you in Chinese, "Please understand, things are not like the Chinese city here." You don't think that's a big deal, but you reply in Chinese, "I understand, not to worry." You know of lots of places back home that don't have the technology upgrades that you are accustomed to. You arrive at the village and notice that you have to walk a little ways to the home of your friend's grandmother. As you get out of the car, several Chinese people have gathered around and are staring at you. You are afraid they might burn a hole right through you! You turn to your friend and say in Chinese, "I don't understand why they are staring at me. Do I have breakfast on my face?" Video S2 #10 - Video Vocab 10: Oh, What a Tangled Web We Weave, When We Teach Chinese Insect Vocabulary!
Learn Chinese with ChineseClass101.com! You learned a lot the last time you agreed to watch your niece…and this time, the joke's on her. Yes, last time, she thought she was so smart because she knew the Chinese names for so many insects in your garden. But she is only five years old, and you are pretty sure that you have her this time! You have a bug day planned – of gardening again. She loves it, and it is an excellent chance for you to show off your new Chinese insect vocabulary that you have been practicing. As you follow her out into the flower garden, she looks back at you with those big patronizingly sweet eyes and says in Chinese, "Look, what is this bug called?" Oh, she's fast: she thinks you don't know this answer. You kneel down next to her, sneer on your face, and reply sweetly in Chinese, "Honey, that is a spider, and it looks like it's protecting itself from you." Astonished, she whips her head around to face you and replies with a simple, "Oh." You point to another bug nearby and explain in Chinese, "And look here, the cicadas are climbing up the tree." She stares at you in disbelief and replies in Chinese, "I don't want to look at bugs any more, let's go work in the garden!" Looks like you beat her at her own game AND get some help with that unruly garden too! Nice job! Learning Chinese with ChineseClass101 is the most fun and effective way to learn Chinese! This Chinese Video Vocabulary lesson is part two of our Insect vocabulary, and it will teach you how to talk about insects in Chinese. Intermediate Lesson #5 - Divorce in China
Learn Chinese with ChineseClss101.com. You are in China for your best-friend's wedding and what do you know, some of your other friends, the so-called best men, are trying to dissuade the groom not to get married to his Chinese childhood sweetheart. They have every reason in the book, including the rising Chinese divorce rate. One even goes so far to mention the groom's last girlfriend fifteen years ago. He says in Chinese, "Remember that girl that you just thought you would die without and then you dumped us for her? She ran off with another guy and left you to wallow in your misery." The groom looks at his friend and declares in Chinese, "That was in sixth grade!" You can't help but laugh at that and wish the groom best of luck. As you walk out of the dressing room to help usher people in the church, you hear another best man saying in Chinese, "Before marriage, people are so free to explore. Now you'll be dull and never hang out with us." Maybe you shouldn't leave them alone with the groom... Learning Chinese with ChineseClass101.com is the most fun and effective way to learn Chinese. In this Chinese Intermediate lesson, we will teach you how to indicate the distant past when speaking Chinese. We will also clue you in to the Chinese divorce rate and why some believe it to be rising. Even with the rising Chinese divorce rate, it is still less than many countries, so learn your vows in Chinese and then come back to ChineseClass101.com for more fantastic lessons.
