Learn Chinese with ChineseClass101.com! On vacation in China, you decide to finally meet up with one of your friends that has always lived there. After shopping all day in Chinese markets - not even stopping for a break - you meet him at a popular Chinese restaurant and he has brought his parents along that you have not seen in several years. After a loving greeting from his parents, you reply in Chinese, “Excuse me. I need to go to the restroom. I have not been all day.” Your friend laughs at you and replies in Chinese, “You really haven’t been here in a while, have you?” Your friend’s mother scolds him for laughing at you and tells you in Chinese, “They don’t have a restroom here. In fact, the closest one is two streets over.” Your friend laughs harder. You look a little desperate for a restroom and apparently, everyone can see that. Your friend’s mother, that is obviously more compassionate than he is, suggests that you all enjoy the walk two streets over together so you can use the restroom and then you all would return to the restaurant together. Thank goodness someone cares. You playfully punch your friend. You’ll remember this the next time your friend comes to see you in your hometown. You’ll just have to make sure you choose the restaurant carefully!

Now that you have made that decision, you need to get a Chinese driver’s license so you can travel back and forth to the Chinese University. Everything goes well getting a license. In fact, it was much easier than you thought. On the first day of classes, you get ready and leave in plenty of time before your first class, or so you thought. The roads are jam-packed with Chinese drivers and you are getting nowhere fast. You become so frustrated that you shout in Chinese, “Oh come on! This is completely absurd! It’s extremely important that I make it on time!” Except for a few stares from some passersby, that you are sure are used to the traffic, you are confident that no one thinks you’re extremely crazy. The Chinese traffic begins to move and you are on your way. Tomorrow you will be sure to leave earlier.

Learn Chinese with ChineseClass101.com! For most people, being connected to the Internet is just as important as having air to breathe, and water to drink. When you arrive in China, you don’t want to be a fish out of water gasping for oxygen. Wireless Internet is not as prevalent in China as it is in the West, and hot spots are few and far between. Sometimes, to gain access, you will have to resort to more unorthodox forms of online surfing. Enter the Chinese Internet cafe. While Internet bars in China might not be the most well lit of all places, they will ensure that you have a speedy connection and a ready supply of snacks for purchase.
