Differences in Seasons?

Postby fudayi9762 » September 16th, 2011 11:54 pm

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum.

What is the differences, other than the obvious, in the different seasons for each difficulty tier?

Are the seasons just extensions so you can think of Beginner Season 2 as just more of Season 1? Just more topics?

The reason I ask is if I'm going through a particular difficulty tier and it seems easy to me, is there any reason to stay in that tier? Should I just move up in difficulty? What about all those topics I skipped over by jumping up in difficulty?

Will I be missing something if I skip season 2 of Beginner to go straight into Elementary?

Which brings up another question - is the order of difficulty:

Absolute Beginner - Beginner - Elementary - Lower Intermediate - Intermediate?

And what is Gengo?

Thanks

Bump.

Is there anyone around here any more?

How about a little insight as to how the 'tiers' differ from each other?

What is the functional difference between say Beginner and Lower Intermediate?

I'm not, in fact, spy phone sure i'm right, since i've started from the lower intermediate level, but i think it makes difference, whether you have some background knowledge and knowledge of some characters or not. Thus, lower intermediate is more.. advanced in this sense.

To tell the truth I didn't get your question. What do you mean differences in seasons?

Hi everyone,

Thank you for your extreme patience in waiting for a reply.

The levels are basically aligned in the following way, if you're familiar with the Common European Framework of Reference:

A1: All About/Basic Bootcamp/Pronunciation/Survival Phrases/Absolute Beginner
A2.1: Beginner
A2.2: Elementary
B1.1: Lower Intermediate
B1.2: Intermediate
B2: Upper Intermediate
C1: Advanced

Or, if you're more familiar with ACTFL:

Novice: Absolute Beginner
Intermediate (Low-Mid): Beginner
Intermediate (Mid-High): Elementary
Advanced Low: Lower Intermediate
Advanced Mid: Intermediate
Advanced High: Upper Intermediate
Superior: Advanced

You should feel free to move up the levels if you feel comfortable with the material in that level.

Seasons are usually 25 lesson groups that are published contiguously and offer continuity in storyline and continuity in lesson focus. The second, third, fourth etc seasons offer more practice and training for each individual level. So if you need more help with a level, you should continue on to the second, third, fourth, etc seasons.

Gengo is a special series that straddles the different Beginner levels.

I hope that answers everyone's questions. I'm very sorry for the slow response, and again thank you for your patience.

Peyton
