Go for it Chineseclass101!

Postby GreenAirplane » May 18th, 2009 7:16 pm

Hello,

my name is Robin, I've been listener of japanesepod101.com for a few years. I've always wanted to learn Chinese in addition to Japanese. Knowing the great work the people at jpod101.com are doing, I was really psyched when I heard about this project.
I'm just gonna say this:
Good luck to you, I'll do my best to stick with you from the start.

Thanks for your support, Robin! You're out in front of the pack here! Haha!

We're sure you'll love it here, especially if you're already familiar with all the great tools over at JP101.

Welcome!

大家好,

我叫 Ross. Nearly finished my first year studying Chinese at university as well as being a few months into learning Japanese.

I'm a member at Japanesepod101 and Koreanclass101 as well, couldn't resist the urge to join Chineseclass101 as I know the sites have a lot to offer and I really enjoy all the different materials and podcasts on offer.

Keep up the good work!

I'm going to try this out too. :) I've got a good friend that moved to Brazil, and I would like to start speaking more Chinese to him. I also love his mother, and she was so happy that I said hello to her in Chinese.

Thanks, Max!

And you'll find people are really kind about your skills as a beginner in Chinese as long as they see you're making the effort! Keep at it!

I think Max is being a bit humble about his Chinese skills, Frank. Word on the street is that he's actually really good. Was it four years in Shanghai or five?

Ha! That was poor tagging on my part, Dave. That last comment was aimed at untmdsprt. :)

Hi
Chinese is very new to me. I just started a few days ago. I've been studying Korean with kc101, and I like the method. I signed up for cc101 membership without the trial. Can anyone suggest me where I should start? I'm not sure whether I should start with introduction or survival phrases. As for Hanzi, it's also new to me. Do they have step by step how to write each character on this site? I could not find any.
Thanks

@jintana23 - why don't you start with the beginner series with Frank and Echo? If that's too difficult you can move down to one of the more basic series. If it's too easy jump up to elementary?

Anything below the Beginner level is going to focus on common phrases and not try to hard to make grammatical sense of the language. Anything above is going to assume a basic familiarity with Chinese parts of speech and how the building blocks of the language fit together.

Is it just me or ChineseClass101 is getting BORING!!! We don't know the host well and there other ones out there comments but unknow to CC101 listeners too. It started out pretty well but end it up know lonely and boring here. JP101 would always be the best site from Peter-san! 8)
