Lesson 35. All right guys, another real straightforward lesson today. The numbers from 10 to 100. First we are going to run over the numbers 1 to 10 really quickly. Ready? Here we go! 1 一(yī) first tone, 2 二(èr) fourth tone, 3 三(sān) first tone, 4 四(sì) fourth tone, 5 五(wǔ) third tone, 6 六(liù) fourth tone, 7 七(qī) first tone, 8 八(bā) first tone, 9 九(jiǔ) third tone, 10 十(shí) second tone. Now from here, you just take these basic numbers and add them on to the end of 10 十(shí) which is 10. So 11 is just 10 1, 十一(shí yī), 10 1, 十一(shí yī), second tone, first tone, 十一(shí yī). 12 is 10 2, 十二(shí èr), second tone, fourth tone, 十二(shí èr). 13 十三(shí sān), second tone, first tone, 十三(shí sān). 14 十四(shí sì), second tone, fourth tone, 十四(shí sì). 15 十五(shí wǔ) second tone, third tone, 十五(shí wǔ). 16 十六(shí liù), second tone, fourth tone, 十六(shí liù). 17 十七(shí qī), second tone first tone, 十七(shí qī). 18 十八(shí bā), second tone first tone, 十八(shí bā). 19 十九(shí jiǔ), second tone third tone, 十九(shí jiǔ) and then 20 is just made by putting 2 in front of 10, so 二十(èr shí), 2 10, 二十(èr shí), fourth tone, second tone, 二十(èr shí), 20 二十(èr shí). From here, it just follows the same pattern. You put the number after 20. So 21 is 2 10 1, 二十一(èr shí yī), fourth tone second tone first tone, 二十一(èr shí yī). 22 二十二(èr shí èr), fourth tone second tone fourth tone, 二十二(èr shí èr). 23 二十三(èr shí sān), fourth tone second tone first tone, 二十三(èr shí sān). 24 二十四(èr shí sì), fourth tone second tone fourth tone, 二十四(èr shí sì). 25 二十五(èr shí wǔ), fourth tone second tone third tone, 二十五(èr shí wǔ). 26 二十六(èr shí liù), fourth tone second tone fourth tone, 二十六(èr shí liù). 27 二十七(èr shí qī), fourth tone second tone first tone, 二十七(èr shí qī). 28 二十八(èr shí bā), fourth tone second tone first tone, 二十八(èr shí bā). 29 二十九(èr shí jiǔ), fourth tone second tone third tone, 二十九(èr shí jiǔ) and then can you guess what 30 is? Just 3 in front of 10, 三十(sān shí), first tone and then second tone, 三十(sān shí), 3 10. I am sure you can get the rest of them yourself and I am sure you are going to need to rewind and go back over the ones we did before because that was tough for me and I know it’s going to be tough for you. Good luck guys but here I am going to give you 40, 50, 60 all the 10s all the way up to 100 and once you get these, you will know what to do with them. So 40 四十(sì shí), fourth tone second tone, 四十(sì shí). 50 五十(wǔ shí), third tone, second tone, 五十(wǔ shí). 60 六十(liù shí), fourth tone, second tone, 六十(liù shí). 70 七十(qī shí), first tone, second tone, 七十(qī shí). 80 八十(bā shí), first tone, second tone, 八十(bā shí). 90 九十(jiǔ shí), third tone, second tone, 九十(jiǔ shí). That’s all the 10s all the way up to 90. In another lesson, we are going to go from 100 but I think you got enough right now.
All right, to close our today’s lesson, we’d like you to practice what we’ve just learned. I will provide you with the English equivalent of a phrase and you are responsible for shouting it out loud. You will have a few seconds before I give you the answer. So 加油(Jiā yóu!) 10 十(shí), 11 十一(shí yī), 12 十二(shí èr), 13 十三(shí sān), 14 十四(shí sì), 15 十五(shí wǔ), 16 十六(shí liù), 17 十七(shí qī), 18 十八(shí bā), 19 十九(shí jiǔ), 20 二十(èr shí), 30 is 三十(sān shí), 40 四十(sì shí), 50 五十(wǔ shí), 60 六十(liù shí), 70 七十(qī shí), 80 八十(bā shí), 90 九十(jiǔ shí).
