Thank you for your comment. There is a bit of difference. 认识 means to be acquainted with, to know someone, so 我很高兴认识你 is used when you meet someone for the first time.
见到 means to see or to meet someone, 很高兴见到你 can be used when you meet someone for the first time, to express that you're pleased to see and meet someone. It can also be used in other occasions, for example, you meet an old friend after some years, and say 很高兴见到你 to express that you're happy to see him/her.
Hope it helps, let us know if you have any questions.
are 我很高兴认识你 and 很高兴见到你 interchangeable, or are there certain situations where one should be used over the other?
Hello Ramji Murthy(David Norvell),
Thank you for your comment. I'd suggest picking either simplified or traditional, then stick with it. Once you know enough characters, it will be easy to learn the other set as well.
You can start learning the characters by familiarizing yourself with the building blocks, i.e. the strokes, stroke orders and radicals. You can find the reading and writing resources on this page: https://www.chineseclass101.com/chinese-resources/
Here you can find an eBook containing some common characters: https://www.chineseclass101.com/chinese-pronunciation/
In each lesson, you'll also be able to find the Hanzi Close Up PDF worksheet for you to practice.
谢谢 (Xièxie) for your kind message! 😇

How do you suggest moving very slowly to adding Characters in Chinese? Is it better to begin with simplified Mandarin or jump in to traditional Chinese?
