Chinese food overseas of course is fabulous, but there are plenty of Chinese
here in the Silicon Valley and hence the cuisine follows them. If a place is good,
it received good advertising by word of mouth. Here are two that I like:
1. 小而大, a Taiwanese owned restaurant located in Milpitas. The English name
is "e-Noodle". They have two dishes that I like.
酱牛肉春饼 (jiang4 niu2rou4 chun1 bing3) and 锅贴 (guo1 tie1)。
The 锅贴 is not your typical pot sticker, but is a Taiwanese style pot sticker
which is long and rectangular. 都非常好吃! However, I would prefer that
the 酱牛肉春饼 would have more beef and less veggies.
2. The other restaurant which I particularlly enjoy is Ma's Restaurant located
near Berryessa and Lundy in San Jose. It is a 清真商店(qing1 zhen1
shang2 dian4) a Halal restaurant. Two items that I especially like are
大饼 (da4 bing3) a sesame flat bread and 羊肉刀手面。(yang2 rou4 dao shou mian). The hand sliced noodles are fantastic.
