Hi everyone! Today we're going to learn 10 Phrases to Amaze Native Speakers. So let's begin!
1. 条条大路通罗马。 (Tiáo tiáo dàlù tōng Luómǎ.) "All roads lead to Rome."
For this phrase, you can use it when your friends failed an exam, and you can say that,
it’s okay, 条条大路通罗马 (Tiáo tiáo dàlù tōng Luómǎ) "All roads lead to Rome."
2. 有志者事竟成。 (Yǒuzhì zhě shì jìng chéng.) "Where there's a will, there's a way"
"Even though Chinese is a little bit hard to learn, there's a will, there's a way."
即使中文有一点难学,但是有志者事竟成。 (Jíshǐ zhōngwén yǒu yīdiǎn nán xué, dànshì yǒuzhì zhě shì jìng chéng.)
You can do it!
3. 千错万错都是我的错。 (Qiān cuò wàn cuò dōu shì wǒ de cuò.) "It is all my fault."
You can say this phrase to your girlfriend or your boyfriend, it’s really helpful, trust me. If you annoyed your boyfriend or girlfriend, you just say
千错万错都是我的错。 (Qiān cuò wàn cuò dōu shì wǒ de cuò.)
I guarantee that your girlfriend or boyfriend will laugh and not angry anymore.
4. 我只花了一年时间就说得流畅了。 (Wǒ zhǐ huāle yī nián shíjiān jiù shuō dé liúchàng le.) "It took me only one year to become fluent."
Actually i think it’s a little bit hard, if you really only spent one year to become fluent, you are genius.
5. 你说的我全都能明白。 (Nǐ shuō de wǒ quándōu néng míngbái.) "I completely understood everything you said."
Maybe you say this sentence to the Chinese native speaker, they’ll be shocked.
6. 你学中文多长时间了? (Nǐ xué zhōngwén duō cháng shíjiān le?) "How long have you been learning Chinese?"
我已经学习中文十年时间了。 (Wǒ yǐjīng xuéxí zhōngwén shí nián shíjiānle.) "I have been learning Chinese for 10 years."
Wow! It’s a really long time, 10 years! 十年 (shí nián)!
7. 你怎样学中文? (Nǐ zěnyàng xué zhōngwén?) "How did you learn Chinese?"
"I learned Chinese all by myself." 我自学中文。 (Wǒ zìxué zhōngwén.)
Oh! That’s quite difficult, to learn a new language all by yourself.
8. 谢谢,其实这不是我的母语。 (Xièxiè, qíshí zhè bùshì wǒ de mǔyǔ.) "Thank you. But I am not a native speaker actually."
If you can speak Chinese like the native speaker, I guarantee you’ll be a super star in China.
9. 马马虎虎。 (Mǎma-hūhu.) "Careless; Just so so."
For example, your friend might ask you "Hey, how’s it going, guys? 你最近怎么样? (Nǐ zuìjìn zěnme yàng?) And you can respond, like,
马马虎虎。(Mǎma-hūhu.) that means “Just so so, nothing special.”
And also it can be an adjective, like you’re careless.
你做事总是马马虎虎的。(Nǐ zuòshì zǒng shì mǎmǎhǔhǔ de.)
“You’re careless doing something all the time.”
10. 不好意思。 (Bù hǎo yìsi.)
It’s a very casual sentence in Chinese, it means, it has several meanings; first, "Excuse me,” if you want to draw someone’s attention;
second “I am sorry,” 不好意思我迟到了 (Bù hǎo yìsi wǒ chídào le.) "I am sorry, I am late."
And third, embarrassed, like, someone says a lot of good words about you, you’re so beautiful, you're so impressive, then you can say 不好意思 (Bù hǎo yìsi.)
