INTRODUCTION
Michael: Hi everyone, and welcome back to ChineseClass101.com. This is Business Chinese for Beginners Season 1 Lesson 7 - Saying Goodbye When You Leave Your Job in China. Michael here.
Dehua: 大家好!(Dàjiā hǎo!) I'm Dehua.
Michael: In this lesson, you’ll learn how to say goodbye in a business setting. The conversation takes place at an office.
Dehua: It's between Linda and Mark.
Michael: The speakers are co-workers, therefore, they will speak informal Chinese. Okay, let's listen to the conversation.
DIALOGUE
马浩然: 我先走了!
(Mǎ Hàorán: Wǒ xiān zǒule!)
张丽: 为什么那么早就离开?
(Zhāng Lì: Wèishéme nàme zǎo jiù líkāi?)
马浩然: 东西都做完了,就回家咯。
(Mǎ Hàorán: Dōngxī dū zuò wánliǎo, jiù huí jiā gē.)
马浩然: 你也不要做得太晚了。
(Mǎ Hàorán: Nǐ yě bùyào zuò dé tài wǎnle.)
张丽: 谈何容易。

Michael: Mark is leaving early, but Linda still has some work to do.
Dehua: Yes, she does. Hopefully she can finish soon.
Michael: Is it common to work overtime in China?
Dehua: Yes, I think so.
Michael: I remember reading a few stories about bus drivers working overtime in China.
Dehua: Yes, there have been some traffic accidents due to this in the past.
Michael: How many hours do Chinese employees usually work?
Dehua: About fifty hours. The required minimum wage is US$3.60. (three sixty US dollars)
Michael: So what is the average salary?
Dehua: US$1,104. (one thousand one hundred and four US dollars)

Michael: This is a very common parting expression. You can change the day if you’re seeing the person at a different time.
Dehua: For example, 周日见 (zhōu rì jiàn)
Michael: "See you on Sunday." Can you give us an example using this phrase?
Dehua: Sure. For example, you can say... 我先走了,明天见。(Wǒ xiān zǒule, míngtiān jiàn.)

Michael: In this lesson, you'll learn about saying goodbye before going home.
Michael: Let’s start with some expressions you can use before you leave work for the day.
Dehua: 我先走了。(Wǒ xiān zǒule.)
Michael: "I have to go now."
Dehua: 我先回家了。(Wǒ xiān huí jiāle.)
Michael: "I have to go home now."
Dehua: 明天见。 (Míngtiān jiàn.)
Michael: "See you tomorrow."
Dehua: 回见!(Huí jiàn!)
Michael: "See you later!" As we heard in the conversation this time, employees don’t always leave at the same time.
Dehua: No, sometimes people have to work O-T.
Michael: That’s a common abbreviation of "overtime."
Dehua: If you’re leaving but a colleague isn’t, you should say something.
Michael: Yes, it’s nice to show concern for your colleagues. Let’s hear some example sentences.
Dehua: 不要做得太晚了。Bùyào zuò dé tài wǎnle.
Michael: "Don’t work too late."
Dehua: 不要常常加班哦。(Bùyào chángcháng jiābān o.)
