Hi Maureen

Both 长[cháng] and 久 [jiǔ] mean long.

长 can be used to describe both a physical dimension and time, while 久 is limited to describe time, not a physical dimension.

Thanks for learning with us.

In the audio, the man uses "chang" to say the first necklace is too long. But in the vocab list, it uses "jiu" to convey length. Can you explain the difference? Thank you.

Hello Anya

精致 [jīngzhì] and 成熟 [ chéngshóu or chéngshú ] are not exactly the same. For shopping, they may work for the similar kind of expectation, but as adjectives, they have some difference in between.

精致: delicate, elegant, and generally means expensive when talking about Jewelry.

成熟: mature, sophisticated, refering to something not designed for very young buyers, or something not very simple, with a more mature style or more delicate craft.

Thanks for learning with us.

In the fourth line of the expanded vocabulary section you have the following sentence:

她生活的目标是帮助 他人。

this is also what the audio says.

however the pinyin for this sentence is as follows:

tā shēnghuó de mùbiāo shì bāngzhù biérén .

`bie ren' (别人) should be changed to `ta ren' (他人) to fit with the written Chinese and the audio.
