Thank you for your comment and sorry for the late reply.

The third tone is a falling rising tone, it first goes down and then up, it is the original "full" third tone, we normally pronounce it this way when it is just one syllable. In most cases, the third tone precedes other tones, in such cases we pronounce just half of the tone, it goes down but doesn't go up, it's called a "half" third tone.

at 00:53 seconds in the tape, "zhǐ" sounds quite a bit different than if you click on the vocab words above. On the tape it sounds correct, but not in the Vocab section.

Above it sounds as if she is stretching it into a two syllable word. And I checked, the .5x version sounds even longer.
