Hello 一个美国人,

Hello again! Have you checked the Hanzi Close Up worksheets? You can find them in some of the lessons, not in all of the lessons thou. They include the vocabularies from that particular lesson, there are Pinyin, English translations and a practice sheet, for example in this lesson:

https://www.chineseclass101.com/lesson/absolute-beginner-1-meeting-whats-your-name/?lp=87

Under the main title of the lesson, go to "Download PDFs", then "Hanzi Close Up".

There's also a PDF Chinese practice sheet you can download on this page:

Hi. This pattern of old fashion linear visual learning is perhaps not the smartest thing in 2013. Our brain is not designed to learn on a such way. It is perhaps suitable for a parrot. We create a network of understanding in first place. Compare to things we know and then extent and combine. "Repeat after me" really doesn't work for humans very well. Most of our students where I teach modern Psychology, did learn languages all the years at their elementary school, high school, and collage - after "repeat after me" and grammar method and still do not talk a word, when they have to in a foreign country. This has a reason.

Visual the best way I have experienced in my long life by learning many different languages, when not able to be in the country - was by following peoples in a film into different situations, listen and watch conversations - can replay the movie, can get a translation if I wish in the end and peace by peace get explained the meaning. Hear the whole sentence again as many time as necessary and at the speed I like.

Perhaps following somebody into a Bakery, hear conversation like I was behind and listen and watch. Our kids learn from their parents on this way. Watching the body language is very important. Body language and tone is 93 % of all communication and words less then 7%...! Learning languages faster and remember it afterwards, is about using all senses at the same time. Only listening let remember us only 12% , just watch give us over 30%, feel it by writing on our leg or arm, is over 50% and smell and taste at the same time will make it a lot easier to remember the words for rest of our life.

Perhaps it makes sense to you!

The first 5 audio lessons with Amber and Victor were very informative and fun. Using this style and follow this two into a Chinese community somewhere in Chinatown, will be awesome and fun to learn.
